Pastors Joe and Cyndi Ramirez have been serving in ministry for nearly a decade and originally founded Revive LA with a simple mission: to cultivate and rekindle a love for God and people, and to see lives restored through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Now, they’re beginning a new chapter as LA Cruz—a welcoming church community centered on the cross, grounded in scripture, and focused on practical faith that meets real life.
Pastor Joe is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a longtime business leader (CEO for over 20 years), and an MBA graduate of Pepperdine University who currently serves in nonprofit operations. His message is shaped by lived experience, recovery, and a passion to help others grow through God’s Word.
Pastor Cyndi, formerly an actress, has taught English in LAUSD since 2001 and is pursuing her Master of Divinity at Liberty University. Known as a prayer warrior, she encourages people to deepen their relationship with Jesus, delve into theology and live a Spirit-led, grace-filled life.
Together, Joe and Cyndi have been married for 21 years and are proud parents to their teenaged daughter, Katie.
why the name change
Revive LA will always be part of our story—an important season where God gathered people, stirred faith, and reminded us that renewal is possible.
But over time, we began sensing a gentle, steady leading into something new. Not a rebrand for the sake of change—more like a spiritual turning of the page. A clearer identity. A simpler focus. A fresh obedience. LA Cruz is our “yes” to that nudge: a name that reflects where we’re headed as a ministry and what we’re called to carry into this next season.
After the disaster, we stepped in to assist with worship at Palisades Lutheran Church, and we’re grateful for that time of service. Yet even as we helped, we kept feeling the same pull—back into the mission field as a ministry. Back to a place where we can build community, reach those who are curious, and create space for honest faith, real conversations, and real support.
We’re also thankful to be gathering again at the American Legion—equipped with full A/V and a kitchen that makes it easy to linger afterward, share a meal, and actually get to know each other. We don’t want this to be a “show and go.” We want it to feel like family… a place you can exhale.
Above all, we want LA Cruz to be a place of healing and refreshing—a community where grace is bigger than performance, where questions are welcome, and where nobody has to pretend. The cross is our center—not as a symbol we wear, but as the foundation we return to: love, sacrifice, mercy, and hope.
